Celebration of Life Planned for MVHS Senior Saskia Burke

I try and try, baby, I really do. This rollercoaster of emotions - PAIN/TERROR/ANGER/HORROR, well, I never did handle a rollercoaster ride very well. I try to be thankful - for each and every beautiful moment we had with you; that Ian missed the bus, and WASN'T in his bed when Gary tried to kill him first; that Gary didn't KILL Dad and Connor, as he had been planning to do over this past year to us all; that all the children who were supposed to be here that night, and for whatever reasons in the universe (car trouble, postponed until the next week, JUST LEFT THE HOUSE, etc) WEREN'T here...
And I'm sorry that your last year here with us was, as a family, our worst year ever! With moms car accident (100% the other guys fault) injuring her leg, and Farmers Insurance refusing to take responsibility to help; Dad losing his job, after all those years of dedication; Ian and Mitch being so busy with college, they were gone most of the time; Richard enlisting in the military, and leaving us; Mom's attack by the Riverside County Sheriff's department officer after the jeep accident, because my leg was injured (from the car accident), which made me unable to climb up that hill; and then - losing YOU!! You were the center of our family - the connection between Ian and Kes, Mom and Dad! Without you, we have all found ourselves tossed into the middle of the ocean, treading water, trying to swim... I hope we put this tribute together right, just the way you'd want it to be...! Mom

My deepest thoughts and prayers have been with you Kathy and all your family, since the moment your Mother shared with me the "unimaginable" loss of Saskia, and all the the horrific pain and suffering inflicted upon the rest of you! On Saturday, as you gather to honor and celebrate your beautiful daughter's life, we will all be with you in spirit, taking time in silence, and will pray for everyone's continued healing. I

Cat - you put on a beautiful celebration that represented how Saskia lived. She and your family will always be in our hearts and prayers. You know the team will always carry Saskia onto the field with us a s tribute to her.
