Broncos Too Much for Mesa, Win 52-0
Rams no match for California's top ranked High School Football team
It didn’t take long for Coach Coley Candaele’s Vista Murrieta High Broncos to establish dominance in Friday night’s league contest with Murrieta Mesa.
The Broncos scored the first three times they touched the ball, two on runs by Su’a Cravens. The third was a Darius Geater grab of a Nick Stevens pass that went 47 yards for a touchdown.
At the end of the first quarter, the Rams found themselves behind 21-0 and things just got worse. Vista Murrieta’s Darrel Denby took a Rams punt and raced 70 yards into the end zone.

QB Stevens drove the Broncos down the field on their next possession and capped it off with a 5-yard TD run by Colton McCullah. The Broncos led 35-0 at halftime.
The Rams prolific offense never got on track. Crippled with an injury to starting Quarterback Chase Chambers, the Rams air attack was grounded by the Broncos.

Vista Murrieta showed Ram QB Parker Erickson why it is the top defensive team in the league, shutting down the running game as well.
The Rams Offense began the second half with a safety when Ram QB Erickson fell on an errant snap in the end zone. Less than a minute later the Broncos scored once again on a 15-yard TD run by Bezhawn Hill.
It was déjà vu for the Rams later in the half as they gave up another safety and, yes TD run by Hill. Final score Broncos 52, Rams 0.
On a side note, the game also pitted cousins against each other on opposite sides. Offensive lineman Mark Diano of the Broncos played against his cousin, Rams player Ozzie Llamas.
"We have been talking about it all year, and now it was going to happen. I’m just going to do my job," Llamas said before the game.
“We were with each other the night before and basically said that hey, off the field we are family, but once we step on that field and we line up across from each other we are enemies. There cant be any holding back to get that W for our teams.” Added Llamas, “I’m sure we will never forget that game.”
Murrieta Mesa’s record is now 6-3. It will play Great Oak next week in the season Finale. The team is hoping to improve to 7-3 and the best record in the program’s short history.
The Broncos will take on the Pumas from Chaparral in a warm up for the CIF Southern Sectional Playoffs.
