Basketball Update: Local High School Tournament Results
Nighthawk Classic Girls Varsity Tournament action continues today until Saturday.
Girls Varsity
Murrieta Valley destroyed the Titans 73-26 in round two of the Nighthawk Classic. Temescal Canyon was no match for the Nighthawks, who improved to 9-3. Coach Scott Richards' team pounced all over the Titans early and never relented.
Aliah Marshall scored 17 points, leading the Nighthawk attack. Deshea Wilkes had an exceptional game for led Murrieta Valley with 16 points—grabbing 12 rebounds.
Karen Wolf scored 10, Ariana Hernandez 11 and Brynn Dahmer brought eight points. Breanna Williams rounded out the Nighthawk scoring with four points.

Murrieta Valley plays the Ravens from Vista Del Lago High School Friday. Come out and support the Nighthawks and catch some great basketball.

Murrieta Mesa continued its winning ways, defeating the Steelers from Fontana High 41-24 in the Lady Bears Classic. The Rams are now 10-4 and are looking for another tournament championship.
Shayd Bowers had 14 points to pace the Ram attack. Mikayla Greens scored 11 and Octavia Willams added seven. Maria Suarez and Kiersta Tanner both scored four points each while Jessica "JJ" Brogden dropped in a free throw.
Vista Murrieta also won its second-round game in the West Coast Holiday Festival. The Broncos beat the Swordsmen from St. Paul High School 63-55.
The win improves the Broncos to 11-2, the best win-loss record of all of Murrieta’s high school basketball teams—boys and girls.

The Broncos play at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the West Coast Holiday Festival at Norco High School.
Boys Varsity
Vista Murrieta played two games Friday in the Las Vegas Championship.
In the first game, Spencer Benson scored 18 points while hauling in seven rebounds in the Broncos' loss to Valley High School 76-63. Anthony White added 16 points while Austin Beech and Jeremy Zorotovich each scored 10. Evan Roberts had five points and Nick Stevens rounded out the scoring with four.
In the Broncos' second game, Vista Murrieta defeated Sierra Vista High 63-47. Zorotovich and Jacob Perry led the Bronco attack with 15 points each. Beech and Stevens added 10 apiece while Spence Benson brought four.
Peter Manu scored three points and Stevens, Jamie Nunley and Roberts had a basket each.
Murrieta Mesa lost its second-round game in the Ted Smith Sr. Invitational Tournament to La Sierra 58-44. The Eagles and Rams are now 7-6 for the season. Alex Smith led the Rams with 13 points.
The Rams play the Broncos from Banning High School Friday.
Murrieta Valley faces the 8-2 Crusaders from Mater Dei in the Torrey Pines Classic Friday.
