Supervisor Stone Wants You to Serve on County Panels

The third district county supervisor is seeking applicants for vacancies on councils, boards and committees.

Our local Riverside County Supervisor, Jeff Stone, is calling on community members to step up and apply for open positions on county councils boards and committees.

“An important part of my public service as county supervisor is to recruit and appoint Third District residents to various boards, councils and commissions,” Stone said. “These appointed positions are excellent opportunities to serve your community and advocate on behalf of the issues you are passionate about.”

According to a news release distributed Monday, there are vacancies on the following:

  • Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse
  • Advisory Council on Aging
  • County Service Area 36 (Idyllwild Region)
  • County Service Area 38 (Pine Cove Region)
  • County Service Area 149 (Wine Country Region)
  • Community Facilities District Special Tax Review Board
  • Flood Control Commission
  • IHHS Support Service Advisory Committee
  • Mental Health Board
  • Riverside County Assets Leasing Council
  • Winchester/Homeland Municipal Advisory Council
Here's more from the press release:

Most appointees serve without compensation although some are eligible for mileage reimbursement, as several meeting sites and hearing locations are in western Riverside County. Some boards require special qualifications. The preferred appointee for the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee will be a current or former recipient of IHSS services. The Mental Health Board is seeking an appointee with a close family member who is receiving, or has received, mental health services.

The Community Facilities District Special Tax Review Board interprets and makes determinations on special taxes for each community facilities district established by the county. This technical work necessitates that appointees have five years of professional experience in the State of California as a certified public accountant, public accountant, licensed real estate broker, attorney or a property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization. Board members are compensated at a flat per diem rate of $300 and other expenses.
