Several Murrieta Roads to be Repaved

The City will spend capital improvement funds to lay new asphalt on several City streets beginning in mid-June.

Driving will be smoother on several Murrieta roads once new asphalt is laid this summer.

The City Council voted unamimously Tuesday to award a bid for the work, which will cost $1.8 million. R.J. Noble Company was awarded the work and was the lowest bidder among seven, with Granite Construction coming in the highest at $2.1 million.

Two inches of new asphalt will be laid on Clinton Keith Road to Toulon Drive at the western City limit; on Nutmeg Street between Clinton Keith Road and Jackson Avenue; on Margarita Road between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Date Street; on Monroe Avenue between California Oaks Road and Jackson Avenue; on Antelope Road between Keller Road and the mini-storage; on Murrieta Hot Springs Road between Via Princesa to the east and Margarita Road; on Via Princesa between Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Clear Creek Street; and on Via Princesa between Murrieta Hot Springs road and the beginning of the private street.

The work is set to begin in mid-June, according to City Engineer Pat Thomas. The projected completion date is July 29.

Capital improvement funds to be used for this purpose were approved in September.
