Senator Recognizes Local Ballet Studio

California State Senator Joel Anderson, R-Alpine, recently recognized the Academy of Ballet Arts for its reach into the community.

Located in Murrieta, Academy of Ballet Arts is a non-profit organization that makes it a point to give back. One of the ways it does this is by presenting benefit performances each December and spring of “The Nutcracker.”

A portion of the proceeds from the production—this year held at Temecula Valley High School’s new performing arts center—are used to award scholarships for local youth wishing to pursue their passion of dance.

Anderson became familiar with the Academy’s work in the community through one its students, 14-year Brianna McGlasson, a freshman at Sierra Springs Christian School in Murrieta, who interns in his Temecula office.

Therefore, it was fitting when Brianna assisted the senator’s staff in presenting signed certificates of recognition to Academy of Ballet Arts Directors Jose Chavez and Dana Nelson, as well as Special Needs Dance Teacher Lana Rowe.

“It is an honor to recognize The Academy of Ballet Arts for their artistic contributions that enrich our community, and for their investment in developing confidence and self-esteem in their ballet students,” Anderson said. “I’m proud to have Brianna McGlasson on my internship staff.”
