Nomination Period for City Council Candidates Extended to Aug. 15

Nomination papers and a candidate packet may be obtained from the City Clerk between 7:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at Murrieta City Hall, 1 Town Square.

The candidate nomination period for Murrieta City Council has been extended to Wednesday, it was announced.

The general municipal election was called for Nov. 6 to elect two members of the City Council to four-year terms. Since one of the incumbents——did not file to run, the nomination period is extended to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, Murrieta City Clerk Kay Vinson said in a news release today.

Nomination papers and a candidate packet may be obtained from the City Clerk between 7:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at , 1 Town Square, Murrieta.

The candidate packet, minus the official filing form and application, is available on the city’s website at:  http://www.murrieta.org/cityhall/clerk/elections.asp

However, to obtain the official filing form, potential candidates must contact the City Clerk department, Vinson said.

Since the process takes approximately one hour, please call 951-461-6035 to schedule an appointment, Vinson said.
