Frederick Twyman III, 46, died at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta Wednesday evening. The coroner's office did not list a cause of death.

The vice mayor of the City of Menifee, Frederick Twyman III, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, according to a coroner's report.

"He was extremely devoted to the city and children of Menifee, and we have nothing but heartfelt sympathy for his family," said Betti Cadmus, spokeswoman for the Menifee Union School District.

"His presence will be sorely missed."

Twyman's wife, Carolyn Twyman, serves as a board member for the Perris Union High School District, which oversees high schools in the Perris and Menifee area.

The couple were coming up on their 19th wedding anniversary in August.

Murrieta Mayor Randon Lane said he recently spoke with Twyman at a government function. Lane was at Murrieta City Hall this morning when he heard the news.

"Our hearts and our prayers go out to his family," Lane said. "Any time there is a loss of life, somebody has lost a son, a father, a husband."

The City of Menifee issued a brief press release this morning.

"The City of Menifee extends it sincere condolences to the Twyman family," it said.

Twyman also served on the Riverside County Trails Committee, a resident advisory board for the Riverside County Parks Department, from 2002 to 2007.

Twyman leaves behind two children.
