Other facts

Mrs. Wray earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois.

Her career has ranged from teaching adult education classes in jewelry to working as a goldsmith and wax carver. Mrs. Wray has been called upon by internationally based companies to design lines of jewelry and "one of a kind" items. Today, she sculpts toys and licensed merchandise for several major toy companies in her Murrieta studio.

Mrs. Wray has been a school volunteer since 1988. Memberships include E. Hale Curran Site Council, 1989-91; SHARP Hospital Development Committee; and the Murrieta Downtown Specific Plan Committee.

Elected to the Board in November 1991, Mrs. Wray's current term expires in November 2012.

I am proud to have served on the MVUSD School Board for 21 years. Participating in the development of this school district is one of the most important experiences of my life. We have grown from 2,000 to 22,000 students. We have built schools and hired teachers and staff who are doing a remarkable job of preparing our children for life in the 21st century. Today, Murrieta's Public Schools are among the best in the country.

Board members must balance serving students, teachers, parents and the community alike. As such, I have endorsed and encouraged program options including Classroom Technology upgrades, Child Care, Transitional Kindergarten, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment in HS/College, and Career Pathways.

I have voted to protect employment and restore income cuts as promised. I have endorsed the refinancing of bonds saving taxpayers $1.2 million, utilizing solar and CNG energy options to cut costs to the General Fund, and employing state of the art avenues of communication.

Experience is a powerful teacher. I will face future challenges with wisdom, knowledge and resolve to Keep Murrieta Schools Strong.
