LETTER: Some Murrieta Residents Pay Higher Sewer Rates

The following is a letter to the editor submitted by Murrieta resident Douglas VanderHeide.

Murrieta has some of the highest sewer rates in the Temecula Valley. Some Murrieta residents pay $37.50, $38.75 or $42.00 per month.

A select number of Murrieta residents have the good fortune to live in an area serviced by either EMWD (Eastern) with rates as low as $19.29 per month or in the Rancho Division of RCWD and pay $22.83 per month.

The rest of Murrieta has been mercilessly carved up into 3 water districts; WMWD (Western), EVMWD (Elsinore) and the Santa Rosa Division of Rancho. None of these districts are large enough to compete with the 2 Districts that service all of Temecula and a significant number of Murrieta residents, hence the much higher rates.
