Lane Closures Slated at Benton and Winchester Roads

The closures will begin July 18 and are due to water line work being done by Eastern Municipal Water District.

There will be nighttime lane closures on Winchester Road at Benton Road beginning next week while Eastern Municipal Water District installs a major recycled water pipeline.

The lane closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday beginning July 18. The closures will continue for two weeks through the beginning of August.

During construction, two lanes will be taken out of service, but traffic will be redirected to one lane in each direction on the other side of Winchester Road, said Peter Odencrans, spokesperson for EMWD.

Then after about a week, the crews will move to the opposite two lanes, redirecting traffic one lane each way onto the completed side, Odencrans said.

The project will stabilize system pressures to the French Valley area, according to Odencrans.

The recycled, non-drinking water is to be used mainly for agriculture, landscape irrigation and industrial purposes.

"We ask that the residents and businesses please be patient during these times and exercise caution during the temporary lane closure," Odencrans said.

The recycled water pipeline will extend 6,700 feet and connect to the EMWD's recycled water system. The entirety of the project is scheduled for completion in the fall.
