Jackson-Ynez Bridge Advances with Bidding Process

According to a news report, a Riverside construction bid the project at $5.1 million this week.

Bidding recently opened for the long-anticipated bridge connecting a portion of Murrieta and Temecula, and reports indicate the project may carry a lower price tag than initially thought.

According to the Riverside Press Enterprise, the project to connect Jackson Avenue and Ynez Road received a bid of $5.1 million from Mamco Inc. of Riverside.

City officials have told Patch that the anticipated cost of the project would be $5.5 million.

Known as the Jackson-Warm Springs Creek Bridge, the project entails building a bridge over the southernmost portion of Jackson Avenue in Murrieta with Temecula's Ynez Road.

The Press Enterprise reports a total of ten companies submitted bids, but others came in greater than $6 million.  The bridge could be completed by as early as spring 2014.
