Grant Funding Awarded to Local Child Care Centers

ABC Child Care, with locations at Harveston in the Temecula/Murrieta area and another on Solana Way in Temecula, will begin receiving the funding Jan. 1, 2013.

The Riverside County Children & Families Commission recently approved funding for 24 programs throughout Riverside County to increase affordable child care through scholarships and the quality of early learning service.

Participation in high quality early childhood programs can help children prepare for school and is associated with better school performance. Parents and the business community also benefit since quality child care enables parents to participate in the workforce and obtain further education and training.

Grants will be awarded to the following over three and a half years starting Jan. 1, 2013:

Mid- and Southwest Riverside County

Nash Jordan Family Child Care

VIP Tots

ABC Child Care

Mt. San Jacinto College

Western Riverside County

Last year, the Commission developed and approved a new strategic plan to help guide funding decisions through June 30, 2016. Early Care & Education is among three focus areas. Health and Systems Change & Capacity Building are the others.
