Candidates for November Election May File as of Monday

All candidates—incumbents included—who wish to file must do so by 5 p.m. Aug. 10.

Residents who wish to run for office in the Nov. 6 General Election may take out candidate filing papers beginning Monday, according to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters.

In Murrieta, two city council seats are up for election, along with three school board seats.

The terms of Mayor Doug McAllister and Councilman Randon Lane are expiring in December. Lane has publicly said he will seek re-election, but McAllister has not yet announced his intentions.

On the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Governing Board, the terms of President Paul Diffley and trustees Ken Dickson and Margi Wray are ending in December.

All candidates—incumbents included—who wish to file must do so by 5 p.m. Aug. 10.

However, if an incumbent fails to file, the deadline for that office’s filing will be extended to 5 p.m. Aug. 15, except for that incumbent, according to the Registrar.

Those who are unsure of the local district offices for which they are eligible may contact the Registrar.
