DC Political Writers Fear Bono Mack's Chances

Another top political report says Republicans "have to be worried" about Bono Mack losing in November

Just a day after the Cook Political Index moved it's analysis of the 36th Congressional District race from "Leaning Republican" to "Toss Up",  and Political report 'The Hill' featured the 36th as a race "worth watching", another respected political blog is saying Republican insiders are worried.

In today's editions of Roll Call,  Stuart Rothenberg of Rothenberg Political Report writes,

"...some Republicans are nervous about Rep. Mary Bono Mack, an eight-term Republican from Palm Springs who finds herself with a serious challenge from Harvard University-educated physician Raul Ruiz (D), the son of migrant workers. Democrats have been hammering the Republican on the usual issues, including Medicare and the House GOP budget spearheaded by Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.), and the district’s growing Hispanic population is a long-term problem for the Republican Congresswoman. While most of the polling in the race still shows Bono Mack ahead, this district is getting more attention from insiders of both parties than I initially expected."

Yesterday, when asked about the changes from Cook, Bono Mack Political Director Marc Troast said he "trusts his polls", which show the Congresswoman with a double digit lead over Ruiz.

She can't lose fast enough IMHO.

A “…growing Hispanic population is a long-term problem”?? Really?? Only if you think it is still 1950. Coachella Valley voters can afford to be nostalgic about mid-century architecture but we need to elect political leaders who are focused on reality, and the 21st Century.

After watching the debate, I can't believe its even a close race.. I wasn't impressed by either candidate but was extremely disappointed in BonoMacks performance and lack of knowledge.. It's time, past time, for her to get out of congress.. Quit pretending to reside in California because you don't..

Mary hasn't done a thing for our valley, not one thing. She just goes with the Republican dogma. It is time for her to go. She doesn't even live in the valley anymore.

Funny. I just got called by PPP surveying the district. Strike one against Mary Phony-Hack and one for Dr. Raul Ruiz. Mary Phony-Hack and her supporters continued attempts to sully Dr. Ruiz are laughable. I'm sure she would never come to the aid of a 66 year old in trouble while the Doctor put his future career at risk to do so. Phony-Hack would never have been elected in the first place without the help of a tree on a ski slope. Let her go be with her husband, Cornelius McGillicuddy IV, their home state of Florida where he will also be a loser on November 6th. Send this do-nothing, carpetbagstress home. We need real representation, not a Congresswoman in absentia. No matter what party you are for, how can you want a national shill representing you instead of a local, professional for representation. Heck, if you vote for Mary, sooner or later they find oil or coal under your golf course, start digging and send you packing.
