Closures Scheduled for Cal Oaks Road

Nighttime closures are scheduled to begin Oct. 18 and continue for at least three weeks, according to the city of Murrieta engineering department. The roadway under the bridge will be closed to through traffic between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

As construction on California Oaks Road at the Interstate 15 interchange enters the next phase of bridge work, nighttime closures are necessary.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 18  and on most nights for about three weeks, all lanes of California Oaks Road under the interstate will be closed in both directions between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The freeway bridge spanning California Oaks Road will be widened on both sides to accommodate new loop on-ramp connections. The temporary structure supporting the concrete forms for the bridge will be erected over several nights, according to the city of Murrieta engineering department.

Public safety requires traffic not be allowed to pass under the steel beams and forms while they are being erected, according to a news release.

During the closure, detour signs will provide direction to alternate routes. The normal traffic lanes will be open during the day.
