Candidate Filing Deadline for Rancho California Water District Election is Friday

An election is scheduled for Aug. 27.

Those interested in running for a seat on the Rancho California Water District governing board were reminded that the candidate filing deadline for the upcoming election is 5 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

The terms of four of seven board members are expiring in December 2013. An election for the seats will be held Aug. 27, according to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters Office.

The water district services the city of Temecula, portions of Murrieta and unincorporated areas of southwest Riverside County.

Board members serve four-year terms.

Those whose terms are expiring are: Ronald Skumawitz, Bennett Drake, Stephen Corona, John Hoagland and William Plummer, according to Rancho California Water District's website.

If an incumbent fails to file for this election, the deadline will be extended for that office— non-incumbents only—to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, according to the Registrar's Office.

Further information, such as candidate criteria, may be obtained from the Registrar of Voters at 951-486-7200 or 800-773-8683.
