Calvert Issues Statement on House Passage of FY14 Budget

"A balanced budget is not a radical idea - it's a responsible one," said U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert, Murrieta's Congressman.

Murrieta's Congressman, U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Corona, on Thursday issued the following statement on the passage of H.Con.Res. 25, the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Resolution by the House of Representatives:

"Today, the House took a key step towards getting our country back on solid fiscal footing by approving a budget that balances in ten years. A balanced budget is not a radical idea - it's a responsible one.

"We owe it to taxpayers to put the brakes on our non-sustainable spending levels and to improve our fiscal condition in a way that will allow our economy to grow. The budget approved by the House lays out thoughtful program reforms to ensure essential government services are solvent for generations to come.

“Vice President Biden famously said: 'Show me your Budget and I’ll tell you what you value.' Well, by not submitting a budget to Congress, we are forced to conclude that the White House values delay and obfuscation. I'm hopeful that President Obama and the Senate will finally join the House in tackling our serious national debt challenge by rejecting the tax and spend policies that have caused the problems we face.”
