The U.S. Border Patrol is inviting residents to a community forum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Alpine Elementary School Auditorium located at 1850 Alpine Boulevard, Alpine, CA.

According to U.S. Border Patrol Agent Scott Simon, the purpose of the event is to “discuss border security issues, and address questions about the U.S. Border Patrol.”

Seating at the Jan. 16 event is limited to 75 and RSVPs are appreciated, Simon said. RSVPs should be sent to: Michael.J.Scappechio@cbp.dhs.gov or (619) 216-4259.

The U.S. Border Patrol has a history of holding community forums. In February 2012, the agency held one in San Ysidro. The event followed a Border Patrol five-week training event held in San Diego for citizens. The hands-on training encompassed operations, technology, and field orientation, to give citizens an inside look at the Border Patrol, according to Simon.

Simon did not have immediate information on any community events that might be located closer to Southwest Riverside County.
