Background Music to Liven up Historic Downtown Murrieta

The city of Murrieta has programmed its newly installed speaker system on Washington Avenue to play background music daily beginning on Thanksgiving Day.

Music over the newly installed speakers on Washington Avenue in Historic Downtown Murrieta will start on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, it was announced.

Light holiday music will play in the background, according to city of Murrieta Business Development Manager Kimberly Davidson, who promised the music will not be loud and will be commercial free.

The city has programmed the music to play daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

"After the holidays, the music will be light, easy listening background music," Davidson said. "The music will be played softly so as to not distract or annoy anyone in our Downtown."

The installation of the speakers was a long-planned project for the Historic Downtown area, and work began after capital improvement funds were designated early this year. To read that article, click here.
