Applicants Sought for City Commissions

The all-volunteer commissions act as advisory bodies to the City Council.

Six vacancies on city commissions are imminent, and Murrieta residents 18 or older were invited to apply for the seats, it was announced Tuesday.

The vacancies are effective June 30, said Murrieta City Clerk Kay Vinson, when several commissioners reach the end of their terms.

There will be two seats available on the Planning Commission. The terms of Anthony Casadonte and Raymond Seda are ending. Casadonte was appointed in early 2011 to complete the term vacated by Councilman Alan Long. Seda was appointed in summer 2011 when Thomas Butler resigned his seat. While both may reapply, Vinson said they are required to go through the application process along with any other applicants.

One vacancy on the Traffic Commission will be created by the terming out of Kenneth Nordstrom, who will reach his six-year term limit in June, according to Vinson.

Salvador Rangel will reach the end of his term on the Community Services Commission, leaving one seat open for that advisory body, Vinson said. Rangel qualifies for another term but must reapply, she said.

The terming out of Luanne Ferrer and Edward Lee Heinz leaves two seats available on the Library Advisory Commission.

Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk’s office at Murrieta City Hall, 1 Town Square, 24601 Jefferson Ave., or from the City Clerk’s page on the city website at Murrieta.org

Those applying to serve on the Planning Commission are required to complete a supplemental questionnaire, Vinson said.

The deadline for returning applications to the City Clerk is 5:30 p.m. April 26.
