A wreck Thursday evening involving a pick-up truck forced the closure of Los Alamos Road near Crawford Canyon Road, east of Interstate 215 and Whitewood Road.

The crash was reported at 6:35 p.m. As of 7:10 p.m., Murrieta police were directing traffic to turn around on the two-lane roadway, according to a Patch reporter on scene.

The truck, a late model GMC Sierra, overturned.

Emergency personnel with the Murrieta Fire Department and American Medical Response responded. The driver, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities expected to reopen the road by about 8 p.m.

The accident, which occurred near city limits, was being investigated by Murrieta police.

Officers at the scene said it appeared the driver was traveling eastbound on Los Alamos when he left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck an embankment, causing the truck to overturn and land on its roof.

An officer was en route to the hospital to speak with the man in an effort to better determine was caused him to crash.
