Winchester Homeowner Hurt in Fire

The blaze was reported at 2:15 p.m. in a single-story residence in the 32900 block of Grand Avenue, a rural location just west of state Route 79, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

A person was injured and a house partially damaged in a fire on the outskirts of Winchester today.

Five engine crews and a truck company, numbering around two-dozen personnel, battled the flames for about 10 minutes before gaining the upper hand, preventing the fire from spreading beyond one room, according to a department official.

An occupant suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, the official said.

Damage to the $360,000 property was estimated at roughly $10,000.
