Vehicle Torched in Fire Near Murrieta

The fire was reported shortly after 11 p.m. Monday on Leon Road, near Holland Road, outside Murrieta.

An abandoned, newer-model Honda went up in flames in a field outside Murrieta Monday, setting nearby grass on fire.

Firefighters called to Leon and Holland roads about 11:10 p.m. arrived to find the white car engulfed in flames, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ron Thatcher.

The 2008 Honda had apparently crashed into a barbed wire fence in high brush, igniting the tall grass, firefighters at the scene told Patch.
