UPDATE: Camp Pendleton Fire Contained

The fire was under control around 2:30 p.m. today.

UPDATE 4:19 p.m. Thursday

A brush fire on Camp Pendleton reached some 180 acres and closed part of Basilone Road has been contained. 

The fire, near the 43 Area, was sparked by training activity, according to base spokesman Capt. Barry Edwards.

No injuries were reported and there was no danger to personnel or buildings, Capt. Edwards said.

Basilone road is now opened after a range fire closed parts of it Thursday afternoon, according to the Camp Pendleton Scout Facebook page.

The fire, near the 43 Area close to Fallbrook, was about 70 percent contained by 2 p.m. and base residents may see smoke tonight, the Scout added.
