Two-vehicle Collision Snarls Traffic on I-215

A white Honda and a silver Ford collided on northbound Interstate 215 just past Clinton Keith Road at about 8:23 a.m. Tuesday.

Two vehicles rolled off northbound Interstate 215 in Murrieta at about 8:23 a.m. Tuesday after colliding. They landed on Antelope Road, snarling the morning commute.

The driver of a white Honda allowed her car to drift into the right lane just past Clinton Keith Road, then over corrected, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mike McCracken. This caused her vehicle to veer again into the right lane, resulting in a collision between her car and a silver Ford.

Both vehicles landed on Antelope Road, near Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta. The accident caused the closure of Antelope Road, as well as snarled traffic in both directions on Interstate 215 between Scott Road and Clinton Keith Road. Antelope Road was reopened at about 9:40 a.m.

The driver of the silver car received minor injuries, and had to be cut and rescued from her vehicle, McCracken said. She was taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center. The driver of the white car was not injured.

McCracken said there were no excessive speeds involved in the accident, nor was there any use of cell phones reported. The driver of the white car told officers she was trying to put on her seat belt.
