Trial Set For Firefighter Accused of Raping Drugged Fiancee

William Robert Bolduc allegedly raped his fiancee in her Murrieta home in 2009 while she was still drugged from a dental surgery.

The trial date for a firefighter charged with the 2009 rape of his fiancee in her Murrieta home while she was drugged from surgery is scheduled for April 20.

William Robert Bolduc, 55, a longtime Chula Vista firefighter, is charged with rape of a victim under the influence, sodomy and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

An affidavit filed in support of an arrest warrant by Murrieta police Det. Andrew Dorcas alleges that Bolduc assaulted his fiancee in her Murrieta home on Dec. 9, 2009, after she had oral surgery. The woman had been heavily sedated for the procedure and was barely cognizant as the anesthesia wore off over several hours, according to court papers.

Bolduc allegedly also took sexually explicit photos of the Murrieta woman during the rape. Dorcas said the victim recalled hearing a camera phone clicking and being vaguely aware that her clothes were removed and put back on again. She told the detective that after awakening, she had pain in several places that suggested sexual activity.

Several days later, the victim took Bolduc's mobile phone to an electronics shop and had two dozen recently erased images restored. According to Dorcas, the pictures showed the woman on her stomach, nude, and the defendant allegedly probing her.

Bolduc was arrested a few weeks later. He wasn't charged for another two months, however, while the Riverside County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case.

Bolduc, 55, could face more than a dozen years in prison if convicted of the crimes.

Currently, Bolduc is not in custody and remains on paid administrative leave from the Chula Vista Fire Department.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Angel Bermudez scheduled the defendant's trial to begin on April 20 over the objections of defense attorney Nicholas Depento, who requested more time.
