UPDATE: Lanes Cleared on I-215 South After Garbage Truck Catches Fire

All lanes were clear as of 3:20 p.m., a CHP officer told Patch.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m. Monday:

Traffic should be flowing again after a garbage truck caught fire on southbound Interstate 215 Monday.

All lanes were cleared, CHP Officer Dan England told Patch at 3:20 p.m.

A garbage truck that pulled off the shoulder of southbound Interstate 215 in Murrieta when it caught fire was affecting traffic Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at about 1:56 p.m. about a mile north of Clinton Keith Road, past Scott Road, according to the California Highway Patrol website.

Two engines from the Murrieta Fire Department responded.

The fire was extinguished but the truck needed to be towed, causing a delay for motorists. A possible lane closure was pending, according to CHP.

The number two lane was blocked, affecting traffic between Menifee and Murrieta as of 2:45 p.m.
