Suspected Marijuana Burglar Caught

Two medical marijuana dispensaries were broken into in unincorporated Murrieta early Tuesday, and sheriff's deputies believe they caught their man.

A 20-year-old Redlands man was behind bars today after deputies say he allegedly burglarized two marijuana dispensaries and was attempting to strike another.

Jose Ramon Vidrio of Redlands is accused of trying Tuesday morning to smash the front window of Disabled American Veterans Collective marijuana dispensary, located in the 38000 block of Innovation Way in unincorporated Murrieta.

The owner of the dispensary told deputies that at around 8:30 a.m., Vidrio used a concrete brick to try to smash the window. After he was unsucessful, Vidrio allegedly tried to leave the area in his car.

The owner then chased Vidrio down, and a brief fight and traffic crash occurred, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Jon Wade.

The owner detained the slightly-injured Vidrio until deputies arrived, the sergeant said.

When deputies caught up with Vidrio, Wade said it was determined that he had allegedly just broke into two neighboring dispensaries: New Life Dispensary and the Chronic Relief Collective Dispensary.

Both burglaries were allegedly committed earlier that morning.

Vidrio was arrested on suspicion of two commercial burglaries, attempted commerical burglary and vandalism. Prior to being booked at Southwest Detention Center, he was treated for injuries suffered in the car crash, Wade said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation was encouraged to contact Deputy Castenada at the Southwest Patrol Station at 951-696-3000.
