Suspected Cat Burglar Arrested In Utah After Prowling In Lake Elsinore, Menifee and Temecula

Carl Napoli III allegedly skipped town to avoid capture, but was picked up in Utah Thursday and awaits extradition back to California.

A suspected cat burglar who allegedly pulled a string of heists in Southwest Riverside County has been arrested in Logan, Utah, authorities are reporting.

Temecula resident Anthony Carl Napoli III, 29, was arrested Thursday in the Beehive State after he allegedly fled the local area to evade capture, according to Sgt. Robert Novak of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

In December, during an investigation into the prowlings, the Menifee Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a home in the 23000 block of Lake Drive in Menifee. It’s unclear why the Menifee residence was of interest to investigators, but the search apparently spooked Napoli, who left town.

“The Special Enforcement Team was able to track the suspect to a location in Utah where local authorities took him into custody on January 24, 2013. The suspect is pending extradition to California,” Novak said.

Napoli will be booked on suspicion of burglary, the sergeant added.

Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Deputy Conwell or Deputy Mahoney at the Perris Police Department by calling (951) 210-1000 or by email at PerrisStation@RiversideSheriff.org

I believe a cat burglar is one who steals at night when people are home sleeping.
