More than 60 fraudulent credit card transactions were attempted the same day a victim's wallet was reported stolen from a locker at a Murrieta gym, according to police.
Following the alleged theft that occurred at about 4 p.m. Jan. 6 at Gold's Gym, 39400 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, a suspect was seen on surveillance footage using the victim's credit card at Target, 41040 California Oaks Road, according to a wanted flier posted by Murrieta police.
An investigation revealed the suspect seen using the card at Target had entered Gold's Gym at approximately the same time the theft was reported Jan. 6, according to the police flier.
The suspect gave the name of Brian Myers and paid $10 cash for a day‐use pass, police said; he then left the gym about three minutes later.
Police believe the card was also used at Target in Lake Elsinore, and attempts to use it were made at more than 60 locations throughout the local area in the hours that followed the theft.
The suspect was described as a white male about 18 to 22 years old wearing a white hat, a burgundy and gray jacket, a black Hurley T-shirt and black shorts. He also wore a bandage on his thumb, police said.
Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation was encouraged to contact Murrieta police Detective Sgt. Phil Gomez at 951-461‐6356.
