Shoplifter Attacks Security at Menifee Kohl's

A Hemet woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting items from a Kohl's Department Store in Menifee and assaulting loss prevention officers to get away, a Menifee police sergeant said today.

Cristian Natalie Valencia, 23, of Hemet is accused of shoplifting items from inside the Kohl's Department Store in the 3000 block of Haun Road at 5:12 p.m. Saturday and assaulting loss prevention officers as she got away in a white Hyundai Veloster before police could arrive, said Sgt. Ralph Rico of the Menifee Police Department.

Valencia's license plate was traced to a residence in the 27000 block of Rosemont Way in Hemet, but a Hemet sheriff's sergeant stopped Valencia in the 41000 block of Stonecliff Way, where she was detained, Rico said. The stolen property was recovered from the car.

Valencia was booked at the Southwest Jail for robbery, the sergeant said, although the Riverside County Sheriff's inmate records did not yet have details.
