Many people have been asking Murrieta Patch about a possible fire in town on Friday afternoon.

As of 1:30 p.m., there are no local incidents, Murrieta fire officials assure Patch.

However, if you're seeing smoke, it's likely from the massive Tomahawk Fire which has burned an estimated 6,000 acres as of this posting, officials said.

That fire is burning on Camp Pendleton, and started around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday on Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook before spreading to the base, according to the Camp Pendleton Fire Department.

As of Friday at 10 a.m., it had consumed an estimated 6,300 acres and was 23 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.

It's actually from the Pulgas and Talega fires on Pendleton. Tomahawk is 65% contained.
