Security Guard Accused of Stealing Computer Equipment from Loma Linda Murrieta

Hospital surveillance shows the private security guard putting a computer monitor under his jacket, then exiting the building, police said.

A night-shift security guard at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta was under arrest and accused of stealing $6,500 worth of the hospital’s computer equipment, police said today.

Adam Keophommachack, 43, of Ontario was arrested near his home Wednesday after the Special Enforcement Team conducted a brief surveillance followed by a traffic stop, said Murrieta Police Sgt. Mark Reid in a news release.

Hospital surveillance taken just after 11 p.m. on Feb. 4 shows Keophommachack removing a 20-inch Dell monitor and concealing it under his jacket, then exiting the building, Reid said. The monitor was designed specifically for use in the hospital’s Hybrid Operating Room, and can not be used otherwise.

Keophommachack was not directly employed by Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, but was contracted by a private security company. He is also employed as a San Bernardino Community College District police officer and is currently on administrative leave, Reid said.

Police served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence based on evidence from the footage. Keophommachack was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of embezzlement, grand theft and burglary.

“Unfortunately, the stolen monitor was not located at his residence,” Reid said, adding that Keophommachack is suspected of stealing other property while he was working at the hospital.

Reid said approximately 40 Honeywell Dolphin 9900 handheld scanners valued at $80,000 were also recently stolen from the medical center.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Sgt. Reid at 951-461-6329 or report it anonymously at WE-TIP 1-800-78-CRIME.
