A truck that smashed into a power pole Friday on eastbound Clinton Keith Road at Bridlepath Lane in Wildomar—east of Interstate 15 near the city's border with Murrieta—has forced a road closure.

The crash involving a gray Nissan Titan was reported shortly before 6 p.m. and eastbound Clinton Keith traffic is shut down at press time.

Southern California Edison has been called to the scene.

The adult male driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Captain John Duncan of Station #75.

No other injuries were reported.

Duncan said eastbound Clinton Keith Road is expected to be closed for three to five hours as crews work to repair the pole.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Residents in the immediate area are not reporting power outages at press time, although a Patch reporter on scene said traffic signals were out at Clinton Keith Road and the 15 Freeway. It's not confirmed whether the outage is due to the crash.

I wonder if the driver could have been electrocuted if they crashed into the wires that go down to the ground (the ones covered in yellow plastic). The pole probably would've fallen down, it looks like those cables are the only thing holding it up right now. They're lucky they made it past and got just the pole instead!

how drunk does someone have to be to hit that pole?

Hey Duck...this was a power pole not a telephone line!

@Alek J. Hidell: I was wondering the same thing. (But the road does narrow from two lanes to one as you drive up that hill into Murrieta, so I suppose it's possible he was cut off by another driver... but I think that's wishful thinking. I suspect it was a DUI-influenced accident.)

Duck, your an idiot. The power lines are in the way? Those power lines are not in the road, so how are they in the way? Also, those cables that come down from the power lines into the ground are simply 'ground'. There is no electricity in those cables. Just keep your ignorant comments to yourself.
