Report: Murrieta Man Tasered in Temecula Incident

A Murrieta man who jumped out of his moving car after calling 911 to say he was on drugs and having a panic attack was Tasered by police outside a Temecula restaurant while allegedly resisting arrest, it was reported today.

The 33-year-old man called 911 around 7 p.m. Tuesday and said he was driving somewhere on Winchester Road, had taken drugs and was having a panic attack, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Terry Jones told the Riverside Press- Enterprise.

A deputy who was searching for him saw a man jump out of a moving car on Winchester near Roripaugh Road and chased him through the parking lot of an Outback Steakhouse, according to the newspaper. The deputy did not know the man was the one who had called 911.

The deputy drew his weapon and ordered the man to the ground, Jones said, adding that he was zapped twice with a stun gun when he resisted arrest while being handcuffed.

The man, who hit his head on the ground during the arrest, was transported to Inland Valley Regional Medical in Wildomar for an evaluation.

It was unclear whether he will be charged with a crime.
