Police: Woman Who Crashed Car Into Garage 'Fell Asleep'

A woman who escaped uninjured Wednesday when she drove her car into the garage of a Murrieta home had fallen asleep at the wheel, Murrieta police say.

The accident occurred at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday in the 38500 block of Falkirk Drive.

"She fell asleep. She lives in the neighborhood and was almost home when she ended up going through the front yard of one home, grazing that tree, and then going through a single-car garage," Murrieta police Lt. Rob Firmes said.

As Patch originally reported, the garage of the affected home along with property inside it and an interior wall were extensively damaged.

"(The residents) had to have a contractor come out immediately, and shore up the wall," Firmes said. "They were are able to stay in the house."
