Police Re-Arrest Man Suspected of Stalking Young Murrieta Girls

The man-- who police believe has a sexual obsession revolving around the young girls' socks-- was rearrested Thursday after they added more charges in the case.

A Murrieta man who is accused of bothering several young women around town was re-arrested Thursday on additional charges, police say.

This time, his bail is set at $1 million.

Alexis Edmundo Garcia was originally arrested April 11, on charges of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense, possession of material depicting a minor simulating sexual conduct and annoying a minor, according to jail records.

Murrieta police said the 31-year-old is suspected of contacting young girls at local schools on at least five separate occasions over the last two months.

"The investigation has led detectives to believe the suspect has a fixation with the socks being worn by the minor female victims," Murrieta Police Lt. Tony Conrad said following the man's arrest.  "This obsession is sexual in nature."

Upon arrest, Garcia posted $5,000 bail on Saturday and was released.

On Thursday, though, police took the man back into custody.

"After extensive investigation including additional witness and victim statements, the Riverside District Attorney was consulted on the case,"  Conrad said Thursday.  "It was determined today, April 17, that probable cause existed to re-arrest Mr. Garcia for 664/207PC - Attempt Kidnap."

According to Conrad, "several additional charges" related to the possession of child pornography were also added in the case.

After obtaining an arrest warrant Thursday, police took Garcia into custody around 1:15 p.m. without incident, the lieutenant said.

"He remains in jail at the Southwest Detection Center on $1 million bail," he said Thursday evening.

There are now at least a dozen suspected victims in this case, according to police-- who also believe there may be more.

Additional victims or witnesses are asked to come forward and speak with police by calling Sgt. Phil Gomez at 951.461.6356.
