Police: Man Arrested on Suspicion of Marijuana Growing, Possessing Illegal Firearm

Jeanpaul Otomo, 35, was arrested on suspicion of growing marijuana with the intent to sell, as well as possessing a modified assault rifle.

An arrest was made at a Murrieta home where marijuana was allegedly being grown to be sold, police said.

Jeanpaul Otomo, 35, was arrested at about 8:30 a.m. Friday morning at the home located in the 39600 block of Wild Flower Drive for allegedly cultivating marijuana for the purpose of sales, as well as possessing a modified assault rifle.

Officers were at the home Friday conducting a follow-up investigation stemming from a narcotics complaint, said Murrieta police Sgt. Don Weller, in a news release. Otomo, the homeowner, was arrested and taken to  Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.

just the day before in the same block of Wild Flower Drive after police officers were led to a home by a pitbull that had been shot by an officer who was threatened by it.

The two arrests were not related, said Sgt. Steve Dyer late Friday. Investigators returned to the home of the first incident Friday, and based on a complaint found that similar illegal activity was allegedly taking place at Otomo's home.
