Police: Would-Be Temecula Robbers Disarmed by Business Owner
The men took off running when the cash-for-gold business owner fought back.
Temecula police are investigating an assault this week that happened outside a local cash-for-gold shop.
According to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Jones, the owner of Temecula Gold & Jewelry arrived to open his store in the 27-400 block of Jefferson around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. He was then approached by two men wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves.
"The suspects brandished a handgun and forced the victim into the business," Jones said.
Once inside, there was a brief struggle, but "... the victim was able to disarm the suspects," according to Jones.
At that point, the two ran out of the shop, and sped off in a Black Nissan Quest. Police are looking for the suspects.
No injuries were reported, and police say the "gun" used in the attempted hold-up wasn't even real.
"Further investigation revealed the suspects used a fake plastic handgun," Jones said.
