UPDATE: Murrieta Man Killed in Borrego Springs Motorcyle Accident

Authorities identified the victim of the fatal motorcycle crash as Harold Larry Marker of Murrieta.

UPDATE 6/28 6:45 p.m.: New details were released today in the fatal motorcyle crash of a Murrieta man in Borrego Springs Monday.

Harold Larry Marker, 64, of Murrieta, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson Road King when he veered across double yellow lines and struck an oncoming 1983 BMW 320i, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office and California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the BMW, a 79-year-old man Borrego Springs man, was evaluated
for complaints of back pain, CHP public affairs Officer Brian Pennings told City News Service today.

Marker worked in the medical profession as a physician's assistant, confirmed today by an office in Murrieta where he worked four or five years ago.

A 64-year-old Murrieta man was killed while riding his motorcycle Monday morning in Borrego Springs, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The man, who authorities said was white, married and lived in Murrieta, has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

The medical examiner's report states the victim was wearing a helmet and riding solo on a Harley Davidson motorcycle at 7:40 a.m. Monday on State Route 78 in Borrego Springs when the accident occurred.

About three and half miles east of San Felipe Road, he entered the westbound lane after completing a curve. As he was attempting to correct his position, he struck the front driver's side of a BMW traveling westbound, the report stated.

The BMW driver pulled over and called for emergency assistance.

CPR was administered by responding fire personnel, but he failed to respond and his death was pronounced at 8:24 a.m.

An autopsy has not yet been scheduled.
