Jeremy Derain, 28, was arrested about five minutes after the 10:45 a.m. robbery at the bank in the 5600 block of Ramon Road, according to Palm Springs police.

Derain fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and then changed clothes, according to Officer Rhonda Long. The suspect, last known to be living in Murrieta, tried to run back toward the bank, and he was quickly arrested, she said.

Nobody was injured during the heist and no weapons were used, Long said. All the money was recovered and returned to the bank, she said.

The same bank was robbed in February.

Derain was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Long said it was typical of bank robbers to travel out of their home towns so as not to be recognized.
