Sheriff's Sgt. Nathan Kaas said investigators were alerted last week by a Moreno Valley High student to a potential inappropriate relationship between the suspect and girl, whose identity was not released.

"Detectives obtained several statements and confirmed a ... sexual relationship occurred between Mr. Brohamer and the victim," Kaas alleged.

The suspect was arrested following an interview with investigators at the sheriff's Moreno Valley station.

According to Voros, Brohamer has worked since 2006 in the high school's English department, assigned to AVID, a program that helps at-risk youths with college preparation.

The suspect was also most recently the boys and girls golf coach, but Voros couldn't immediately confirm how long Brohamer had been in that position.
