Murrieta Home Spared From Fire

The fire was confined to the living room area of a home located at 37392 Huckaby Lane.

Murrieta firefighters spared a home while its residents were away earlier this week.

Fourteen firefighters responded at 11:55 a.m. Monday to 37392 Huckaby Lane, where they reported heavy smoke coming from inside, said Matt Corelli, spokesperson for the Murrieta Fire Department.

Crews arrived within six minutes and by 12:19 p.m. were able to control the flames to the living room area, Corelli said.

The damage was estimated at $70,000, mostly as a result of the smoke, Corelli said. The home was valued at $260,000.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Thursday.
