Murrieta Firefighters Knock Down Truck Fire

Responding firefighters found a 1993 GMC Sierra pick-up truck fully engulfed in flames.

A motor home was saved from flames Friday afternoon when a pick-up truck caught fire in Murrieta.

"We got called out for a vehicle fire with structures threatened," said Murrieta fire Capt. Phong Dang, who was part of two engine crews that responded to the blaze reported at 2:37 p.m. at 26107 Hoover St., off Madison Avenue and Fig Street.

Firefighters arrived to find a 1993 GMC Sierra truck fully engulfed in flames with a motor home on the property also threatened, Dang said.

"(The owner) just bought the car and was having mechanical problems with it, it wasn't even running when he bought it, so it's unknown," Dang said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire that could be seen from Interstates 15 and 215 Friday.
