Murrieta Crime Statistics for Jan.-Feb.

The activity reports listed the amount of each type of crime that took place in January and February.

There have been three reported rapes since 2011 began, according to crime statistics released by the Murrieta Police Department.

There were 10 robberies--eight in January and two in Feburary. There was one assualt in February, none in January. There have been twelve auto thefts--seven in January and five in February.

Also shown were 136 acts of larceny, or theft valued at more than $400. Fifty-one burglaries were reported.

Officers issued 639 moving violations in January, including red light camera violations. In February, 801 citations were issued.

The last reported homicide in Murrieta was in January 2010.

According to Murrieta Police Lt. Dennis Vrooman, the FBI usually releases crime statistics in May for cities in the U.S.

Vrooman said that according to last year's statistics, the Murrieta Police Department had a 76 percent clearance rate for crimes, meaning that amount of crime cases were solved or closed in the City. The next closest was Hemet Police Department with 66 percent, he said.
