An eight-vehicle pile-up on the southbound Esondido (215) Freeway Saturday blocked the farthest left lane, slowing traffic to a crawl, Patch learned at the scene.
There were some patients taken by ambulances to hospitals but no immediate word on extent of injuries.
The crash, north of Los Alamos Road, was reported at 1:31 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Motorists immediately began driving the wrong way back down the entrance ramp and Murrieta police had to be called out to monitor traffic at Clinton Keith Road, the CHP reported.
