A motorcyclist was killed because he lost control as he tried entering a curve in Lake Elsinore and crashed, a sergeant said this weekend.

The rider of a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle was going east on Railroad Canyon Road at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday as he approached Church Street, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Steve Brosche said.

The man then lost control on a curve ahead of Church Street, and crashed.

"Officers arrived within minutes and began lifesaving measures," Brosche wrote in a press release.  "The rider, of a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle, sustained major injuries. He was transported to a regional hospital where he was pronounced dead."

The motorcyclist was not publicly named pending notification of relatives.

Sheriff's deputies shut down one eastbound lane of Railroad Canyon Road for about six hours as the investigation was underway, Brosche said.

So tragic when any young person loses their life. New bike...perhaps he was unfamiliar with it. Praying for his grieving family.
