Mother, Daughter Charged in Underaged Drinking Death

The two provided alcohol to a 19-year-old who later drove while drunk, crashed and killed a 19-year-old Murrieta man.

A mother and daughter were charged with giving alcohol to a minor who then got drunk, crashed her car and killed a 19-year-old Murrieta man.

The mother, Maria Ana Anguiano, 41, and her daughter, Desiree Anguiano, 20, face misdemeanor charges and, if convicted, could be sentenced to 6 months in jail, according to District Attorney spokesperson John Hall.

The family were having a party for the 20-year-old daughter in their French Valley home when they bought alcohol and gave it to the party-goers, including 19-year-old Ashly Nicole Rodriguez.

Rodriguez got drunk and drove away from the party with a friend, 19-year-old former student Aaron Ellison, in the passenger seat. She crashed the car, ejecting the passenger. He died from his injuries.

and faces 12 years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced on June 28 at the in French Valley.

“This case sadly is a perfect example of the tragic consequences that can happen when alcohol is provided to a minor,” said Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach. “First, underage drinkers should not be drinking at all. Period. And second, adults, who should be the ones setting the proper example for the minors, also need to know and consider the consequences. They can be, and will be whenever possible, prosecuted for supplying alcohol to someone underage.”
