A traffic delay on the I-15 north approaching Southwest Riverside was caused by a military convoy crash, the CHP is reporting.

The rollover crash occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. just south of Temecula Parkway on the 15 north, the CHP reported.

The crash happened as a convoy of four Marine vehicles from Camp Pendleton headed north at about 45 mph in the freeway’s slow lane, according to a report from CHP Officer Nathan Lane.

The second convoy vehicle, a three-axle cargo truck driven by serviceman Jose Gamboa, was towing a bobtail truck. The bobtail swerved and the tow vehicle eventually overturned, Officer Baer reported.

After the collision, the convoy stopped in the northbound I-15 three and four lanes, which blocked traffic.
